Hibiscus Tea


Hibiscus tea is derived from the green part of the hibiscus flower. This part is called the calyx. It is rich in compounds known as anthocyanins. These are compounds responsible for the red color of the hibiscus flower. Athocyanins are rich sources of antioxidants. In addition to antioxidants, this tea also contains good amounts of vitamins, amino acids, fruit acids and bioflavonoids that are very useful to a person’s health. This tea does not lose its nutritional properties at significantly high or low temperatures and hence can be consumed hot or cold.
